So I’ve been using OSX for the last few days, and I’ve decided that I’m either going to build a new Mac Pro-esque machine (Intel board, Core 2 Quad, 4GB of RAM) and use something like Boot-132 to use a retail OSX DVD, or just buy and iMac. OSX is a completely different way to think about the user interface. The global menubar alone is something that Microsoft wouldn’t have ever thought of, and it’s something that the Linux community will probably never embrace.
I still haven’t gotten QE/CI to work, so the only times a program crashes on me (besides Firefox) is when it tries to do something that requires it, like iTunes and QuickTime. Restart and shutdown suddenly started working, which I have no explanation for.
Tonight I’m going to do a fresh reinstall for a clean slate to work on video. In fact, I’m going to publish this blog entry and restart to do that. |
