Steve’s having his surgery today. I forgot to ask what time. 

11:47 a.m.

Hot, cold, hot, cold! I don’t know why I can’t get it right. I have the little space heater under here and turn it on when I start getting cold. Then it’s too hot and I have to turn it off. Then I get cold again after awhile, especially if I dare go to the Arctic Circle that is the bathroom up here. Takes hours to recover from that. Nighttime is worse. The heat is on but Mickey has the fan going, and I’m in winter pajamas with my heavy blanket but after awhile I start sweating. It’s a cold sweat, though, so I’m cold AND hot. Oy.

Reading this biography of Hitchcock is making me want to go rent my favorites: Vertigo, Marnie, Rope, The Birds, Shadow of a Doubt. I love them all and can’t decide, so I’m going to see what they have at Blockbuster this weekend and maybe treat myself to a little Hitch-a-thon. I can’t believe the only Hitchcock I actually own is Dial M for Murder, and that’s on old VHS. When/where did I get that? Maybe someone gave it to me. I don’t remember, which is odd. Must give hints to Mickey about potential birthday presents. J

Some very cruel person brought cake up here. CHOCOLATE. I’m just going to stay in here and not look at it. We’re having cupcakes this weekend so I can hold out.

I would really like to see a production of The Nutcracker this year. Several of the ballet companies are performing it. The Texas Ballet Co. is doing it at Bass and Fair Park; the Metropolitan Ballet is doing a run at UT Arlington, and the Tuzer Ballet in Richardson. It’s such a perfect complement to the season. I love the music, especially, and it brings back so many memories.
