AUSA WAS AWESOME. As shown above :P And it's actually a good picture of my new head piece too :P
So, last week, I had the whole week off from work so I stayed home and worked on my new headpiece and fixing up my wig. AND I'M SO GLAD I DID. :D My new headpiece is made from cardboard, paper mache, and paperclay! I sanded the shit outta it and painted it. The main reason I remade it was because my craft foam one wasn't strong enough to hold up the weight of the beads. My new one does, and I also glued hair extension clips on one side to keep from falling off. DAMN GRAVITY.
My wig now has a styrofoam ball on the stub of the ponytail with black wefts glued on it. I wanted the "Amy Winehouse" look, and so it works. I also sewed hair extensions clips in the front of the wig, since the wig is very back heavy, so those things really keep it on my head! :D
Anyway, con report:
Thursday: I got to spend the night at David's place, and got to sleep on the floor in the Dining room with my inflatable mattress! Thank goodness it was comfy.
Friday: Got up around 11, slowly got ready and got into my Captain Bethii outfit while waiting for David to come back from class. Once he came back and got in lolita we went to Subway and had lunch. Around 4-ish we finally made it to the con, and Miranda and I browsed the Dealer's Room because I knew I wouldn't be able to go in there on Saturday. We talked to Bodyline guy for a good while and I bought some things, and like 2 energy drinks because I WAS SO DAMN TIRED. We eventually made it back to David's apt. so I could pack up my stuff and wait for my roomies to check-in. This when I found out my cat sitter FORGOT to feed my cat on Friday. Thank goodness my package that I needed Thursday came on Friday, because Roger went over and picked it up for me and then fed my angry kitty! :D
Erin and Co. came, checked in, got my crap, and then stayed in the room trying to finish my headpiece. Which I did. At 1 AM. Damn procrastination.
Saturday: Woke up to damn early to get into my Ashura costume, and then headed down to the Cosplay Rehearsal and practiced my dance in full costume, which I hadn't been able to do at home. After rehearsal was the workmanship judging, which went really well! The judges inspected my seams and asked questions so I was happy. After judging, I went and ate lunch. And sat in the hotel room. About 4 I made my way back down and got some pictures taken, then got to sit in the FREEZING green room during the Cosplay. Went on stage, danced, ran off stage. :D I was sad I couldn't really see the rest of the Cosplay, but I guess that's what You Tube is for. Anyway, after we were allowed to go into Main Events for the Awards Ceremony, I went to find my Monkey King assistant (aka Roger), and watched the awards!
I WON BEST JOURNEYMAN WORKMANSHIP AND PRESENTATION. OMGOMGOMGOMG. They liked my dance! :D
And Congrats to the other winners too! :D Yay!
After the Cosplay, I went up to the room and drank. Then went to Chili's, had chicken wings and dessert and drank, then went back to the con and drank. Needless to say, I was pretty drunk. :P Then I passed out at 2:30 AM. :D
Sunday: Dealer's Room, bought more crap, went to lunch with the roomies, and then went home. To my angry kitty. :O!
All in all, I had alot of fun this year, and hopefully I can go next year, though I will probably not be in the Masquerade again, since I like my Saturday's. :3
