Or, at least, my world does.
1) I can has iPhone! We picked up 2 of them over the weekend, and I'm starting to get used to the quirks of it... The keyboard is getting to the point where it's usable, and (when I have signal) the internet surfing is great! I'm not particularly liking the mandatory usage of iTunes to access it, but I've already seen that there is at least one program out there to get around that issue. Now, I have to figure out what applications REALLY need to be replaced from my Palm LifeDrive. 2) ...which brings up the second item. I'm really going to miss the LifeDrive, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that. I'm supposed to stop using it since we spent all the money on the iPhone. 3) Started taking martial arts classes - not sure how that is going to work out. 4) My wife is finally getting her hearing to be reconsidered for Social Security. That is a real pain... Pun intended. She was brought up to be very self-reliant, and not show weakness. Now, she has to argue that she needs the benefits (which she does!) Not going to be easy. 5) Work gets more interesting - my group is taking over more of the functions of a "corporate" group, but still has to do all the local plant work too. I'm not directly involved in most of it, but it's going to make my life harder in the near future (unified email/DNS...) 6) For some reason, my boss's boss has decided that we should seriously look into SQLServer as a database platform. Guess who gets to assume the 4th (or is it 5th?) hat and start learning about it? That's right, I'm not a SQLServer admin, but I play one on TV... Or I will soon, at this rate. I personally am still hoping we stay with Informix, since we are eliminating most of the license issues we got mugged with last year. Time will tell - I strongly suspect that we don't have the programming staff to convert EVERYTHING in the near future. 7) Much Iron Man goodness... I've bought all of the Superhero Squad IM figures, because they are so cute! :) Several other figures, including the only 2 War Machine (called "stealth armor") that showed up at my local WalMart. One is stored away, one is on my desk. Also picked up all of the Burger King figures. Still watching for the other figures to go on clearance, but that hasn't happened yet. 8) Con schedule (at this point...) Kumoricon this weekend, Orycon in November, (I think) Norwescon next spring, and the North American Discworld Convention next September. NEXT September, as I've had to tell 3 people now... :)
Life keeps on accelerating. I'm not sure what is going to happen in the near future, and I have no idea where I'm going, but at least I'm travelling at full speed...
(Not sure why I post so much when I'm listening to George Michael - that's a little strange, and more than a little creepy!) |
