Yep, I am really in love with A Midsummer Night's Dream right now.
I'm not such a fan of the subplot concerning Peter Quince and their play for Theseus and Hippolyta's wedding.
But I love the main storyline. And the setting even more. It's something about the magic of the fairies, and the fact it's set in a forest - in case it's not already clear, forests and trees hold a sort of attraction for me. And it's in Greece, a country I like because of its mythology.
The characters are often quite idiotic, but flawed and misguided characters seem to be Shakespeare's thing, so I can't dislike them for it. Except Demetrius. The only reason I was glad he found love with Helena was for Helena's sake.

I wish we could do the play in drama lessons, or as the school production.

Well, we performed an adaptation of it in Year Six, which was really where my love affair began.
It was obviously a dumbed-down version of the real thing which tried to be funny. But even so...
I really wish I'd been allowed a better part!
I was just one of the people who stood around the stage and sang. I wanted to be one of the fairies so I could have the costume.
But it wasn't to be. Everyone else who raised their hand just to see if they wanted a fairy part, got it. I swear the teacher in charge was missing me out on purpose, because she definitely saw me and indicated no limit to how many extra fairies there could be. I was offended.
Perhaps she thought I'd be no good just because I've always been the insanely quiet one. But most of the fairies didn't really say anything and were just in the background , so it wouldn't have been a problem.
That's all I wanted, to be part of the whole thing in some small way.
And I can't believe I'm still annoyed about that.

Now, I am rambling.

Now, browsing deviantArt isn't a regular activity for me, but I just had to see if they had anything to do with AMND...
I was not disappointed.

^ That was exactly what I was looking for.

There are several others, but I can't be bothered to post them...
Although was a photo taken from a live perfomance, in which Puck was actually......disturbingly good-looking (albeit purple). But it won't let me embed that.

I don't have much else to discuss.
I'm not sure any more if I will bother with Halloween tomorrow - now that it's getting darker earlier (which I love) I'm more content to just sit in bed reading and drinking cappucino. But part of me still craves to be out in the night.
Night is better than day in so many ways. More quiet. You can appreciate the moon and stars - at least you can see those properly without sacrificing the ability to ever see anything else, unlike the stupid sun. And even in those space photos of the sun, it doesn't look anywhere near as good.

Anyway... I'm going on again, aren't I?

I'm so stupid, I suddenly feel all paranoid about saying bad things about the sun, as if I've jinxed it and now it's going to burn out. I don't really want that quite yet.

Goodbye.
