...Jojo and I are fine. We hardly lost power (several flickers, I thought for sure we would, but we did not). The local communities, however, did not fare as well. Power outages in nearby counties have affected many people we know and thousands were home from work today because there was no power in their workplace. The local economy might have a slight slowdown due to the lack of production from some key facilities, but I'm pretty sure we can recover. No one, to my knowledge, was killed in the process of this storm in our immediate area. I hope this finds all of you well, as you clearly have access to the internet and therefore power. Homes, streets, cars, etc. have been damaged by downed trees and power lines with some lines actually catching fire in Sidney OH. It's been a pretty amazing day though as the communities banded together to take care of their own.
I just hope some of the shops being closed in Dayton and Cincinnati areas don't lead to a shut down of our plant in the coming week or so (because we can't build stuff without parts...).
I'm also still recovering from that devestating Buckeye game. Please blame correctly folks - play calling had a lot to do with the loss and Tressel is ultimately the man who failed us. Do not blame Boeckman who couldn't get a pocket to throw from, poor guy. Any quarterback who is hit as many times as BOeckman was in a single game would be having a cow and beating down his offensive linemen whose sole job really is to PROTECT him. But enough of that ...several other games didn't turn out the way I thought they would, so football was a bit of a downer this weekend. THe saving grace for me is that Kentucky won at the very least. :)
Note to self from the weekend: Shopping with your in-laws requires tennis shoes because they literally run from shop to shop as they get ideas and determine destinations. This would be good to keep in mind as you dress shop with Jill for bridal gowns on Saturday. :)
I'm going to have to buy some sweaters for work since it is FREEZING in my office. My hands got so cold today they wouldn't type anymore and the blood was slow in returning to my fingertips when I pushed on them (you know, you push on the pink part & it goes white and it's supposed to turnk pink again...you could see where I'd pushed for about 30 seconds longer than usual...crazy). I'm sure things will warm up in the next few weeks as the weather cools and they finally feel they can turn off the AC.... |
