So I went this morning to court, like the dutiful citizen that I am. I stood up to go aside and ask if I could be excused, because I was told my line of job would excuse me...
naa! nop! I had to sit back and wait. The judge (I actually spoke with the judge!) said being a linguist in a T3 (ongoing investigation I should add) should not be an impediment for me to serve in a civil trial. A criminal trial... that's another story...
Anyway, so I happilly (not!) sat back and just wait and read. I was actually called for the 3rd panel of jurors. They have already called 2 panels of 25 and 30 jurors respectively. (why so many?) Mine, was dubed panel 123 (I kid you not) and this one had a whopping 58 jurors! I was #4. They dismissed the rest to go out to lunch and we 58 had to stay there waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting... we waited for close to 45 minutes. One of the ladies that worked there came in and announced the panel had been canceled and thus we could go home (or back to work). They gave me a certificate that I can show at work or to keep for my records that should cover me for the next three years.
/>Woo hoo!
So... 2pm, already ate lunch... and I'm thinking about crashing on bed for an hour or two.
I AM SOOO TIRED
I didn't sleep well last night.
And so, I did my civil duty.
