After staying up til the wee hours last night (this morning), I didn't drag my carcass from bed until about 2pm.

Just in time to watch some pre-Preakness races on ESPN. I didn't have much time to read the stats, but my quick picks were good. Lantana Mob to win (the easy favourite and sure bet), Silver Edition to Show and Commandeered to Place. (To Show means to come in 1st or 2nd; Place means 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.) I would have cashed in on my first two bets (if I'd actually had anywhere to place them. Or the money to gamble with, right now.)

I'm still reading up on the contenders, so I don't have my picks for the Preakness Stakes, this evening yet.

Big Brown is the obvious favourite (he won the Derby two weeks ago), but Macho Again looks pretty good. Then again, I tend to favour grey horses for purely aesthetic reasons.
