Bleach: lost in transit by incandescens - This was a fun little fic that's silly and has a certain charm to it. The ways to pass the time in Hueco Mundo are probably pretty few and far between and I love the sense of cracked out antics that the author has the Arrancar get up to. It's partly making fun of them/parody, partly just being amusing, and partly a cute Aizen/Gin piece. It flew right by and did not feel like 850 words, wow. (Some Aizen/Gin, it's only vaguely the point.)

Final Fantasy VIII: Musings on a Relationship by sagemuraken - This was a really sweet, gentle take on Squall and Rinoa without being too uber-fluffy and I really liked the characterization here. I really liked that Rinoa was quite aware of Squall's rough edges, but she wasn't really trying to change him so much as she was occasionally trying to get him to open up, and I really liked how you could feel how much she cared about him. I liked the mentions of how he held her and how she saw that and it was just... a really solid, nice little shortfic. (Squall/Rinoa.)

Mei-chan no Shitsuji: Monthly Appoinments by alianora - When you get into a series like Mei-chan no Shitsuji, you're kind of doing it because you love the cliche stuff that's actually really well done. And that's a good part of why I loved this fic with my entire heart, because it's a cliche idea (Mei is pregnant and Rihito flips his lid about it) but it's done beautifully. I love the way this unfolds, it fits perfectly with the series and the characters, the way Rihito reacts to finding out Mei is pregnant and retreats into perfect butler mode and she has to coax him out of it and it's just... it's wonderfully written, it's spot on with the characters, and it was so incredibly satisfying. ♥ (Rihito/Mei.)

Prince of Tennis: Strange Allies With Warring Hearts by measuringlife - This fic starts out with: Meeting someone was far different from finding someone. One could know another for years before they truly discovered them. One could stand beside someone every day and not know them at all. And this is what I like about measuringlife's fic, she has this really lovely way with words that's almost... lyrical or philosophical or whatever you want to describe it as, but it's just really pretty without being pretentious. And I really like this theme for Tezuka and Fuji, it fits with them having known each other for a long time before they really get past all the layers, before their war of undercurrents is settled. As always, she does a fantastic job with this pairing. ♥ (Tezuka/Fuji.)

Psych: Wii Belong by jesshelga - I've been going back through older porn battle posts and happened to stop on this one and it's such a cute idea! Lassiter and Juliet playing a Wii game that then turns into makeouts, with some fun and cute dialogue along the way. Very adorable and makes me want to go on yet another fic hunt for these two. (Lassiter/Juliet.)

Skip Beat!: Fine Things by anenko - This is a short little fic, but it's such a lovely piece and the author does a great job at getting Kyouko's voice down. I love her joy at a simple thing like a new dress, yet there's a lot that's unsaid here that you can just feel from her character. I love how adorable she is and how much I want to give her a hug and a;sldkfjasljk I love Ren being kind of caught up in her, too. (Sort of implied Ren/Kyouko.)

Star Trek XI: The Peanut Butter and the Jelly by Renata Lord - [Note: Just go ahead and assume there are spoilers in this fic and this rec.] I picked up the link for this fic from mklutz's rec post and just had to snatch it up for my own rec, too. It's five times Spock didn't get an earth-based saying and some of them are just... they really kind of shouldn't work, but somehow they did and I wound up laughing throughout the scene. Very cute and fun. ♥ (Kirk/Spock.)

Star Trek XI: untitled? by nextian - [Note: Just go ahead and assume there are spoilers in this fic and this rec.] Oh, this was a great Sulu ficlet, it had a great voice for him and I love the energy of it, I love the sheer amount of crazy shit that surrounds them that you know they get up to every week. I also love Spock's couple of lines of dialogue in this, I love Kirk in the background, I just love the whole damn thing, I grinned so hard at it. (No warnings/pairings.)

Star Trek XI: An Illogical Truth Universally Acknowledged by naughtysnail - [Note: Just go ahead and assume there are spoilers in this fic and this rec.] I'm not sure what made me decide to read this one, other than I'm always curious to find Spock/Uhura that works for me and something about this one... I mean, normally I'm not that much for dirty talk in fic, it doesn't work that well for me most times, but this one was kind of great about it. Uhura explaining about it and Spock not really getting why it turns people on... until he does get it. Add in some really nicely done porn and it's a great little fic. (Spock/Uhura, NC-17.)

Star Trek XI: Fever by penknife - [Note: Just go ahead and assume there are spoilers in this fic and this rec.] This is a little bit darker of a take on Sarek and Amanda that I'm used to or would have sought out deliberately, but I'm glad I read this one, because it's a really intriguing look at a bit of the darker side of pon farr and how it affects Vulcans and how Amanda deals with it. The writing is really lovely and I enjoyed it a lot. (Sarek/Amanda, NC-17.)

Star Trek XI: Soup on the Wall by saavikam77 - [Note: Just go ahead and assume there are spoilers in this fic and this rec.] OMFG YES. Spock/Chapel fic! Spock/Chapel porn fic! Spock/Chapel porn fic that's blending TOS and XI! I love the way this was written, both for the pretty use of language, but the way it wove together the original series and Spock Prime in the new timeline, the way certain memories or thoughts are still with him even in this new universe. I love what (didn't) happened back then and the look into Spock's thoughts on the whole thing and just. a sd;lfjkasl;jk yesss, this is what I wanted. (Spock/Chapel, NC-17.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Izumi Bouko - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is pretty easy to join.] Holy crap, that's over 250 pages of doujinshi and going through it was kind of awesome. I mean, it's not going to be for everyone, it's very much the typical stuff you get with doujinshi, but I'm okay with that and the art is really solid and nicely done in a lot of places. There's a lot of detail and the stories are kind of long as hell and there's a lot of porn and all these things make me happy. :D I'm kind of half-assing this rec, I know, but it really was a fun file to grab this morning and the art was really solid and I think fans of the pairing(s) will really enjoy it. (Gokudera/Tsuna, Dino/Tsuna, Spanner/Tsuna, very much NC-17.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Ingelosire [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is pretty easy to join.] This is more of Peeco?'s art and, if you like the style, you'll like this one. Actually, I think it's one of her better ones, there were a couple of panels that I really just stopped to stare at for awhile because they were so pretty and her characters do look really good. But what I really liked about this one was that it was hot without having to be too graphic (Dino pushing Hibari up against the wall while Hibari's hands were bound was kind of really hot) and it had a couple of awesome kisses. *__* It's not very long, but it was definitely worth the download this morning. (Dino/Hibari, somewhere between R and NC-17.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Bambino [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is pretty easy to join.] Okay, this doujinshi started out with little baby Hibari in traditional clothing and that's pretty much all it took to totally sink me. The closeups on Hibari's pissy face and Dino's thoughtful looks were just nice bonuses, though, I did like a lot of the little moments. Dino and Hibari on the roof or Hibari leaning against Dino briefly or Dino pressing a kiss to Hibari's forehead, who is thrilled about that really, all little moments that really made this fun. It's more of Peeco?'s art style, which... well, after a few of hers in a row, I have to admit that her style grows on me more and more, she really does do some terrific detail and has such a strong, pretty style. (Dino/Hibari.)

- Avatar: the Last Airbender Fancomic - First Date - [ cover - page 01 - page 02 - page 03 - page 04 - page 05 - page 06 - page 07 - page 08 ] - I was browsing devART for Avatar fanart again and happened to stumble over this comic--it's not finished yet, but it's eight pages so far and I just. a sdl;kfja;lskjs it's all about Aang and Katara post-series and their first date and the author does an amazing job of capturing the newness of their relationship on this level, the nervousness they both feel, the way they have this great chemistry and connect despite both of them being fluttery, and it's just. It's perfect for the characters, right down to the background characters (Sokka and Toph and Suki are all utter joys in this) and the art that keeps the spirit of the original and it's just. It's so easy to see this fitting together perfectly with canon. I need more of it. (Aang/Katara.)

- Final Fantasy Dissidia - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I originally came here for the Gurren Lagann art and then just decided to only quickly run through the Final Fantasy section and... it was cute stuff. There was a decent selection of various characters right from the beginning. And then there was a really pretty image of Squall, Zidane, and Bartz. Oh, goddammit, Japan, stop making me so weak to your art! Except I really did like this site, the art was solid and often pretty, even the sketches or the oekaki images were well done and interesting. Some of the villain images are amazingly detailed, there's more than one Squall + Bartz + Zidane image, and there's even occasionally some pairing stuff. I really had fun. XDb (Some potential pairings, but it's mostly a gen site, I think.)

- Gurren Lagann - [ Japenese Fanart Site ] - The Gurren Lagann art is what I originally came to this site for, following links from the artist's post on an oekaki board, but it took me awhile to warm up to it. But when I did? Surprisingly, it was the pchat art that did it, but this artist kind of does AMAZING pchat art, the details and strength of lines are really good! She especially does an awesome adult Simon and a fantastic Viral, though, the other characters are not bad at all, either. This was a really neat, fun stop this morning. o/ (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Gurren Lagann - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - It sort of didn't take me long at all to fall for this site and maybe it's not going to be for everyone, it's got a very solid sort of style, but... there are some group images that look fantastic and there's a lot of art here and I've been in the mood for Gurren Lagann again lately. I really like the variety of characters and concepts/poses for them all here, but also certain ones really just won me over. Nia in an ageha style dress? Or as a tough biker chick? Hot older Simon? A ton of Kamina and Kitan hanging out images? All of these are fantastic things. I love the high amount of Kamina images, but I like everyone and it was just a nice site to see this morning. (No real warnings/pairings, maybe a smidge of whatever you saw in canon.)

- Mononoke - [ Japenese Fanart Site ] - I was actually looking for Gurren Lagann fanart when I stumbled over this artist's work and, okay, I still have yet to watch Mononoke (it's high on my list of shows to just sit down and watch already, though) but I couldn't resist this site. The artist does a beautiful job with the medicine seller, she really gets the feel of the character and this richly detailed world down in each of the images. Even the pchat images are amazing, the patterns of the clothes, the details of the face paint, and accessories, all of it is just gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Easily a must see site if you like the series. (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Mononoke - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Completely independant of the previous site, I just happened to run across another Mononoke site tonight that I couldn't quite resist. I was there for the Gurren Lagann art first, then the Final Fantasy Dissidia art, and then I saw the Mononoke stuff. While it's not as big as the other two sections, it had some really nice stuff in it, it's got all these patterns and details that fit with the style of the series and then there's a whole bunch of doodles on the log pages and it was just really worth going to this morning. (Nothing I'd really warn for.)

- Sailor Moon - [ English Fanart Site ] - It's probably easier just to hit up the Sailor Moon category in the artist's account, but I really do like a lot of what she's done even away from the SM stuff. But the Sailor Moon art is still my favorite from this artist, her light vs dark images of Usagi, the group images of the inner Senshi, the light and airy stand alones of all the Senshi, it's all really fun and cute. I wish there were a bit more, but her current stuff is wonderful and I definitely look forward to more from her. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Sailor Moon - [ English Fanart Site ] - I stumbled over this account when I was looking at Sailor Moon art on devART and happened to stumble over one or two of her pieces and was curious about the pretty colors she used. When I went to look at the gallery (especially the Sailor Moon section, though I like a lot of her stuff), I was so impressed by the Neo Sailor Serenity character designs and the gorgeous use of glowing cg colors that I had to go through the entire gallery. My favorite thing from this artist is definitely her Neo Sailor series, which are cool costume designs and more gorgeous coloring, that kind of jewel-toned yet pastel coloring that works for me with Sailor Moon art. Just as;ldkfjasl;kj I'll go on forever about how delighted I was if you let me. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Sailor Moon - [ English Fanart Site ] - This is another account that I stumbled over because I was doing a massive trawling of devART for all the pretty Sailor Moon art I could find and I happened to stumble over some of her work. My favorite is probably still the collage of all the standalone art she did, but it's also cool to see each of those images separately if you go through the gallery. The art is very bright and cheerful, the colors are very glowing cg that are somewhere between neon and pastel, which is a style that a) I'm weak to (shut up) and b) works for a series like Sailor Moon, imo. I love the ones of Usagi especially, but everything here is very cute. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Sailor Moon - [ English Fanart Site ] - This is yet another account that I stumbled over while I was doing a major devART links trawling and was drawn into because I really liked how solid the art was. There are several stand alone images of the various Senshi, all of them nicely done, and then a couple of group images that are also really neat. What struck me about this artist was how well she did at getting down the anime's style with the character designs, some of them were just spot on. There's also a series of "Supreme Senshi" that gives them all costume upgrades which I thought was really neat, I love seeing stuff like that. ♥ (No warnings/pairings.)

- Suikoden Tierkreis - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I knew I'd probably be caving on this site as soon as I got to the current top illustration of Luo-Tao holding an oversized leaf over Liu's head while rain dripped off it. as;ldkfjasl I am such a sucker for that sort of thing. But what I liked about this site was that the art really was solid and it had a surprising amount of pairings I liked--there was even a Meruvis/Asad image! The comics are also really pretty and I wish there'd been a bit more art here, but the artist's basic lines are really nicely done and her Luo-Tao was hot and even the log art pages were good. All things I love. <3 And omg the human versions of the porpos-kin were kind of seriously awesome. (Some Luo-Tao/Liu, some Meruvis/Asad, some other.)

- Suikoden Tierkreis - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This is another site where there's not a lot of art and I imagine it's probably not going to appeal to absolutely everyone, but... I'm weak to Luo-Tao/Liu makeouts, okay? The colors are soft and pretty, these pretty pastel blues and greens a lot of the time that fit with the Scribe characters' colors and the style is very cute and sweet. I smiled a lot while on this site and that's enough to really charm me, I think. Plus, the comics actually have some pretty nice art and a;lsdkfjaslkj the high school ones are kind of awesome. (Some hero/Liu, some Luo-Tao/Liu.)

- Suikoden Tierkries - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I was totally charmed by the little chibi Liu drawings which were just so damn cute that I had to smile at each of them. I know a lot of what I liked about this site was that I was weak to the characters that frequently appeared, but it really is a solid, cute little site with some really nice Liu art. And I felt that way before I got to the Luo-Tao/Liu chibi makeout image. :D The site is a little everyone/Liu, but you look at enough fanart and you come to like that sort of thing, plus... well, still cute, so I'm easy. I really did enjoy this site a lot. (Some Hero/Liu, some other/Liu, some gen if you step carefully.)
