a/n- Eh...this isn't really essential to the plot line so think of this as a short 800-word holiday crack interval XD Rather incoherent at places so don't hesitate to ask me
“I can drain everything into a cup if it makes you feel better.”
“No.”
“Not even one with dancing reindeers on it?”
“Don’t be stupid, Jaejoong.”
“..how about a syringe. A syringe will be good.”
“...no.”
“Ok, maybe not. Look. We don’t always have to do it the traditional way now, do we?”
“To be kindly explaining in understandable terms?”
“Stupid human.”
“Half, human.”
“Same difference.”
Jaejoong lifts his hand to Yunho’s startled face, waves it about a little to make his point.
“I get cricks in my neck after each time...you know...do that.”
“Ah. And you’d rather have pins and needles in your hand?”
“Take it or leave it, I’m trying to help you out here”
Yunho takes the hand and studies it silently, turning it over to see which place would hurt the least if he were to bite.
“What fine hands you have, granny.”
Jaejoong raises an eyebrow at the obviously filched line from the insane human fairy tale about the kid in a little red hood and the pedophile wolf with a penchant for cross dressing but he can’t help but laugh at Yunho’s mock seriousness.
“All the better to slap you with, my dear, if things get out of hand.”
“Are you serious?”
Jaejoong stops abruptly.
“Yunho, you idiot, I’m not going to-...”
“No, if it really gets out of hand the next time, I want you to hit me. Hard. No, I don’t want a subdued ‘Yes, I will’ from you, I want a ‘I must’. Got that?”
Jaejoong lets himself be drawn closer by the hand, smiles at Yunho’s warmth against him as he’s made to swear and cross his heart, hope to die. Odd creatures, humans, he thinks to himself with a tinge of world-weariness.
“So you mean I only get to be violent if you’re on the verge of killing me?”
Yunho blinks confusedly for a second and Jaejoong smacks him playfully upside of the head, ensuing a wild scuffle on the carpeted floor that makes them throw fake punches and tug at clothes until they’ve clawed each other bare and their bodies dance with the sunlight.
Days trip over themselves as they hurry into weeks and for once, Yunho doesn’t dread the festive season, writing holiday pieces made far easier with Jaejoong wrapping his hands around him from behind, cajoling him to leave work for a few moments every now and then. He doesn’t need the blood (oh, how he struggles to call it what it is but that’s the word, ugly and mocking) as often or as much these days and sometimes, biting down on Jaejoong’s lip when they kiss on the street under the wary eyes of fellow pedestrians is more than enough.
The day he doesn’t even need to anymore comes and goes in a flurry of snow and soaked winter wear. They pick the most secluded part of the city park (holding hands openly to scare away the other couples, obviously Jaejoong’s brilliant mastermind idea) to terrorize and snow melts through Jaejoong’s garish red mittens as he pelts Yunho with deformed lumps of snow.
They make snowpeople, because Jaejoong being Jaejoong, hates discrimination of any kind.
“It should be snowbeings. Snowcreatures. Wider scope, you know,” he grumbles, making Yunho’s once masculine snowman seem rather gender-confused as he packs snow into various anatomical parts, sticking them onto the snowperson.
“As if I can make something as pretty as you.”
“Not all of us are pretty,” replies Jaejoong darkly and Yunho tackles him to the ground, laughing when they get snow in places they didn’t even knew they had.
“Well then, thank god I found myself a pretty one.”
“Don’t flatter yourself, human. I found you.”
Jaejoong’s impromptu carols increase in volume each day and more often than not, in obscenity. Yunho joins in some days when editing Christmas pieces becomes too tedious and they parade up and down the hallway, murdering well known carols at the top of their voices.
“Jingle balls, jingle balls, hanging on the wall! One side big, one side small, the other very tall!”
“Jaejoong, what the hell? What’s that supposed to mean?”
One day, Jaejoong comes back with reindeer antlers for the both of them and a Christmas tree tucked under one arm, a box full of festive cheer under another. They squabble over which bauble should go where, which piece of tinsel should be here and Yunho makes up for it by suggesting a different kind of usage for the string of Christmas lights they find in the box.
“The tree has far too much on it anyway. I’m sure we can spare this for something else.”
He grins and Jaejoong breaks into a smile, lets him be backed into a corner as Yunho twirls the lights mischievously in his hands.
