The Christmas Bird Count!Today was my very first Christmas Bird Count. I went with a Mukilteo team and we looked for birds... birds, namely Townsend's warblers and a hairy woodpecker. Fox sparrows and golden-crowned sparrows... of the lovely path outside of the Mukilteo Library. I heard a pileated woodpecker, but I saw not a single bird. Sing like a chickadee, peck like a woodpecker... on the trunk. ^_^ Also saw another unidentified bird about the size of a woodpecker, but with a black-capped head, gray wings and white underbelly, walking up a tree..., I must stay. Especially the one that tried to land on a bird-feeder made for sparrow-sized birds... and try to peck at the same time. Feeding the Birds in your Garden... have different diets and so giving the correct kind of bird feed is important if you want a variety of birds to visit... is scarce, you may even attract the Greater Spotted Woodpecker .
