Right Speech, Right Action

I considered the other day that thoughts and emotions are insubstantial. If I just sit still with them, they pass me by. When unskillful thoughts and emotions emerge - the desire to say something cruel or do something hurtful - it only has reality when I give speech or action to that thought or emotion. If I don't, it disappears.
