So, as synecdochic mentioned recently, LJ has been made of fail recently . I didn't have time to talk about it,a nd the issue was cleared up pretty quickly, so. However, that's brought up all kinds of stuff about how often one sees Russophobia on LJ/DW. I haven't talked about this, because the last time this made me fume/want to crawl into a corner in a massive way was a few years ago...

In case you missed it, LiveJournal will soon be requiring users to specify gender , removing the existing "unspecified" option. Based on the available information, the options will be "male" or "female", which leaves a pretty significant chunk of LJ's userbase out in the cold. This is not cool, you guys. The link above tells you where to go to protest.

Given that the first diff went in on 2009-12-10, I kind of wonder how long it would have taken before somebody inside LiveJournal had caught this and fixed it [and how they would have fixed it] had synecdochic not caught it and pointed it out.

OH LJ . (I think it's particularly touching the way they are now implying that synecdochic was "misleading" people, and they are not back-pedalling at all, no siree, not us.)
