The biggest problem imo with organized religion

... is. It's what we do when we get up from kneeling over the toilet puking our guts out (or worse) that matters, really-- ~Here pauseth the lesson~ * This includes both "subjectively" and "objectively" wrong, the merely-Unlawful, and the actually-Evil - things against The Rules which could not be construed to do any material harm to anyone except a hypersensitive and exceedingly-neurotic ...

DGM [Yuullen] Fic: What was, What is, and What might be

...bit human shall meet death one day. That can be an absolute truth or a debatable argument , depending on how one defines death. However, if one takes into account how the word “truth” can only be defined subjectively then it is certainly the latter. To Kanda however, this is an absolute truth ; and though it might not be a truth for everyone it is a truth for him, and it therefore is not false. ...

The A.V. Club names the best films of the decade

... world into a shape guided by the obsessions of those who make them. (Or the commercial interests of the marketplace, or a momentary whim.) In this, they’re much like memories, which act more subjectively and self-servingly than any film. Painful rejections get blurred. Estranged friends fall victim to careless erasures. We can’t remake the past, but we constantly try to make it a place in which ...

Henry Waxman and "market failure"

...drugs that will never come to market due to FDA: ??? In other words, nothing. You can't learn squat from it because the concept these two words supposedly encompass does not exist. Calling a subjectively deleterious event or condition a "market failure" would be analogous to Michael Phelps calling a swim loss an "Olympic failure." For whom is this loss the failure, Phelps? Certainly you and your ...

The Prisoner (2009): Harmony

... through 6's entire life, but what we actually see is an objective view of three men in a room and the Butler with his smoke machine. Now imagine what it would have been like to experience that subjectively , through Number 6's eyes... Basically, it's feeling like we're in that anchorless "Fall Out" space already. And that's a good place to be. Because it feels like this is going somewhere, and ...

Hana Yori Dango rewatch, eps 1-3

... of the manga. But the funny thing is, as always, I end up sucked in and not caring because he nails the role and somehow he becomes so magnetic that even though objectively I know he is hideous, subjectively, I am in a permanent swoon. (I think Matsumoto Jun is actually the best of all the younger jdrama actors I've seen - there is nothing in common between Domyouji and Shin from Gokusen or Momo ...

Summary of Fucking, Snarch-Style

... not the same. “Having Sex” implies a behavior, not an integral part of our nature. “Sleeping with” is self-contradictory. “Making Love” implies a meaningful relationship differs from Fucking subjectively and behaviorally. It is now acceptable in the West for “Nice” young women and “good girls” know the the mechanics of their bodies – and be crazy about sex. (I add “...

language has a right to live

"in the beginning was the word, and the word was with god and the word was god" it sucks to always have to evaluate yourself from some kind of subjectively foisted perspective uttered by people who tunnel vision themselves into unsolvable paradoxes. it's funny how some people can claim to sit, silently for hours a day, resting in awareness, and then hold a nonstop streaming satsang of newagisms ...

digging jerks, that was my terrible error

... for having dug jerks myself. Regarding not being a doormat, attacking out of emotionalism is not an option. It is important to direct severe consequences where disinterested reason determines they ought to go, rather than reacting out of fear or wrath. I'll tell you one thing about hatred, though: it is subjectively unpleasant to have the energy in my body, and I'd prefer to not experience it.
