Our own D Day veteran

On this day, the 65th anniversary of D Day, I thought it was only fitting to pay tribute to Star Trek's own D Day veteran James Doohan. http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/James_Doohan

Merry May!

Happy Beltane to all who celebrate it! I have an urge to watch "Wickerman" - the original version in the director's cut, none of your nasty Nicholas Cage stuff! However, I ought to be getting some sleep. I have the Paisley Beer Festival on Friday, not to mention assorted rituals to attend over the weekend.

Cinema confusion

As I am a member of the Glasgow Cinema Meetup group http://www.meetup.com/Glasgow-Film-Fans/ I decided to get a Cineworld Unlimited card as it's far more economical for regular cinema-going. It's certainly been worth it. And all has been well until I decided to go to the cinema last Saturday to see "Slumdog Millionaire". I handed my card over, it was swiped through the reader, and then the guy...

My sick sense of humour

An incident involving a man having an unfortunate interaction with a gyrocopter has been widely reported in the press. The man was a hunt supporter and it is believed the gyrocopter was being flown by anti-hunt supporters. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/4968610/Hunt-supporter-killed-by-gyrocopter-after-confronting-animal-rights-activists.html It would seem he managed to walk into the...

Jan 2nd, end of the hols

I went for a walk yesterday in Queen's Park. I took my camera with me. I'm still getting the hang of using it but managed some shots of The swans on the partially frozen pond. The swan in the above picture is not saying "Look at me, I'm pretty!". It seems to be a sign of aggression as the two who were doing this were chasing the others out of the water and pecking them. Actually, pecking ...

Skewed history

Argh! Clive Anderson is currently banging on about Hadrian's Wall on ITV. He's saying that because he is half Scots and half English his English side can feel pride in the fact the Wall kept the Scots out of England and his Scots half can feel pride in that they defeated the largest empire the world had known. Wrong!!!!! Neither the Scots nor the English were in Britain at the time. Do get ...

Wasting time....

I was planning a trip to Saltcoats today to see my parents. I thought I would wait until today as they have been doing a lot of work in Central Station and, according to Scotrail, the train service would be running normally today. Hah! What a load of rats' piddle! When I arrived in the station this morning it was to find it full of people all looking at the indicator board which was announcing ...
