ART AND SHIT (finally)

This was my final project for ART130: 2-D Foundation Art. Probably 10+ hours including unused sketches/linework. 22x30. Materials: Acrylics, oil, ink, and liquid paper on construction paper, printmaking paper, cardboard, bristol, and sketchbook paper. Also, the "acid" being referenced is the beauteous sound of the Roland TB-303, which was the main driving force for this project. Were it not ...

Edvard Munch The Man

...-biographical works of Tracey Emin and in the evocative and mysterious paintings of Peter Doig. He proved himself a master both technically and creatively in oils, watercolour, drawing and printmaking. His creativity was relentless, obsessive and emotionally taboo breaking. More than any other artist in Modern art, Munch made private, shameful experiences of alienation, panic, jealousy, lust ...

I’m practicing saying, “I am an artist.”

...s where my contribution to the fad kicks in.) One week, I’m all about ATCs. The next week, I’m all about artist journaling. I make notebooks and cross-stitch. I want to try traditional bookmaking and printmaking. I want to do better graphic design. I want to start drawing again like I did in college. I want to figure out how to combine some of this stuff and cook up something awesome. I’ve got so ...

ну, итоги года.external.

... move on.

Crunch Time

Until Jan 9, I'm basically locking myself inside the house to finish a the Art Book That Will Not Die for portfolio day. And applying to 15 printmaking programs. Which on the one hand allows me to get shit done, and on the other hand is locking myself up to get shit done . A quick and inevitable recipe for crazy. Crazy with scalpels. I am reaching three pots of coffee a day, tearing my hair out ...

... I feel like I just made up excuses to avoid it. Why would I avoid it? I have so much to do. It's ridiculous. This week was meant to be my catch up week but I've just been lounging about. I guess in a way it really was a break... but I shouldn't have let it. I'll have a break over Christmas. I should be working on printmaking, but I've been in the ceramics lab the whole time. I'm such a dork.

Steaks, Port, Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Government Lethal Chamber

...art celebrating and reframing the Conquest was also interesting, and not something you'd see had the curators gone for the more ethnographic approach. Less promoted but also stunning is a collection of Mexican political printmaking, mostly from the early 20th century. I wish I'd had more time to take in the details but by that point the call of lunch had grown too strong. It's frustrating to face...

Lime Green Lace

...... I would just need a glove pattern for size 1 dpn and sock-weight yarn! Or, I guess, to figure it out myself. It wouldn't be the first time, right? Oh, and I'm pretty excited about my Printmaking class today. Well, not that excited; I never really get too excited for a 5.5 hour class. Yet, I always seem to have a good time in that class, so I force myself awake on Saturdays to get there. Well,...
