Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome?

My therapist told me that I have Post-traumatic Stress Syndrome and not PTSD? What does this mean? I think it means my symptoms aren't acute or severe enough to meet the criteria for PTSD. Is it something she made up or is an accepted condition? Does anyone here have it?
