basically everyone with a panic disorder should get into an actually dangerous situation one time.

The turning point for my panic attacks was when I was doing this high ropes course thing and I had one in the middle of one of the exercises, suspended on a harness like 50 feet above the ground, in front of...the situation, and nothing I could do to run away from the situation except face it, address it, and fix it, and doing so "fixed" me, in that I've only had one or two panic attacks since then.
