Coming up in less than a month is National Novel Writing Month , 2009. I have been a participant since November 2002 (and actually staged my first month-long novel writing challenge in May 2002, since I'd just barely missed out on the "real thing" in 2001), and of seven attempts have "won" four times, including last year. My successes have since become Lost and Not Found (NaNo'02), Dragons' ...
...while I'm writing it. I plan on doing as much of the back-end work as possible while writing it (plus I've already got the cover almost finished, and I've just put together several pages on modernevil.com for it) so that within a couple of weeks of finishing the first draft, I should have the paperback in hand. Then, with any luck, I'll start podcasting the audio version of the novel on November ...
... like to go down to the Phoenix First Fridays Art Walk downtown and show my art alongside other artists. Every year or two I like to redesign each of my websites a bit (or totally, as I recently did with modernevil.com ), but I just sit in front of a computer (or two, or three) for a couple of days for that - usually not talking to anyone about it until, days later, I finally lift my head up from...
I'll probably record this for MEPod tomorrow. I just wrote it. It's .... it's what I've been thinking about. Getting ready to write a new book. As an experiment, I'm thinking of -experimentally- writing a formulaic book that will be easy to market. In possibly related news, I have a headache. Also, I think I can hear something moving around in the walls. (Hopefully not a moose .) formula ...
Speaking of mood swings and mental instability, here's another post about my books - with a totally different perspective from the last one . After reading a post about the results another author has had with experimentalpricing, and considering the matter, generally and in terms of my recent frustrations, I've decided to try a similar pricing scheme. So, at least for the remainder of the ...
Originally posted at modernevil.com : Forget What You Can't Remember is a book that has zombies in it, but it is not a zombie book. It is not a horror book. It is not a science fiction or a fantasy book, either, despite the existence of a flying city, robots, and elves in the world where it takes place. It is not an action book -- in fact, it may be the antithesis of an action book, when you ...
ebooks are still a bit of a headache for me. Smashwords helps. Last year I had to manually convert my books into 8 different formats (each) by hand. Actually, I just quit after I hit 8 formats. There are a few other formats I couldn't manage to get my books converted to for free. Now, I'm thinking maybe I only have to re-create each book 3 times: I take the paperback (which gives me 1 PDF), ...
Not that I'm especially unhappy with the art I've been creating lately, as compared with how much I'm unhappy with the art I used to make (with an exception I may not get into, but let's just say Winter '00/'01 was a unique period of creation for me), but that lately I've been feeling unhappy with all the art I make. Lately, I've been trying to figure out what's been nagging me about it all. I...
Things are moving forward. Both of my new books, the novel Forget What You Can't Remember and its companion book of short stories, More Lost Memories are well on their way to being broadly available. The audio version of Forget What You Can't Remember has begun appearing online, in the Modern Evil Podcast and at Podiobooks.com , just after the first of the year. Recording has been ...
... currencyconversion, it looks like their "discounted" prices are actually in line with retail prices in the US for my books, so between having them shipped to India & then anywhere in India for that price, it's a good deal. I love the internet. Not sure anyone in India wants my books, but if they do, this looks like a good option. That and the free eBook versions available at modernevil.com .
