Social Psych SOP - Round 2

... example, one study examined how counterstereotypical targets may elicit racial backlash, while another study examined how the self-presentational styles of male and female job interviewees affect hireability and likeability. The work I did gave me a practical understanding of experimental research design, and greater knowledge of the administration and design of implicit and explicit attitude ...

...s on my left forearm. I really enjoy it. It's fresh - they finished it three and a half hours ago - but I like it. It holds several levels of meaning for me, so it will always be close to my heart. Of course, when I told my mother, she freaked a little because it's on my arm. She thinks that will have some bearing on my hireability. I told her I'd just wear long sleeves to any job interviews. :P

A Depressing Article

.... All applicants presented themselves as competent, but also as either confident and ambitious or modest and cooperative. Participants then evaluated the applicants' competence, social skills, and hireability. Results revealed how disparate hiring criteria further discriminates against ambitious, competent women. When judging the ambitious women's hirability, a perceived lack of social skills ...
