... really low and mean, but it's played for comedy, and in the end, everyone ends with their feet on the ground, as you should in a comedy. Ferrando and Guglielmo begin the opera by thinking of Dorabella and Fiordiligi as goddesses and end it by realizing their fiancess are, in fact, women. I grant I never saw a goddess go: My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground , as Shakesy put it....
