I've worked in theaters (real ones, not movie ones) many times, and you know what, they don't have smoke detectors in them, because there might be controlled fires on stage, or characters smoking, or what have you. They do have fire detectors, but instead of detecting SMOKE, they detect HEAT. So they don't go off unless a certain amount of HEAT is present in the room, and they can't be triggered...
