you know it's spring when...

... up on top. whenever i've mowed the lawn (not very often) i put the grass clippings on for good measure. as a vege garden it didn't exactly produce much worth eating - the brocoli and brocolini were the most productive. the cauliflowers were completely useless and the spinach got crowded out, so i moved the 3 remaining plants to #1, where they prompty died. the "soil" is still very clay like, but...
