Vet expense

My ten year old cat needs some dental work. He needs a couple of teeth pulled and then a good cleaning. The vet I took him to gave me an estimate of about $1000. Other than the teeth and making Garfield look svelte, my cat... don't mind (somehow) coming up with the money if this is a reasonable cost....but it seems kind of high to me. This is a small vet clinic (not a biggie like Banfield).

I got my severance pay from Banfield yesterday. They paid me what they said they would, but my god, they took out a little more than $150 in taxes!... at 7pm and I get off work at 6. But my T/Th one starts at 5:30, which would mean I'd have to leave the vet clinic an hour early on Tuesday. Having a hard time finding low-cost spay/neuter clinics
