Guide to Alagaesia

... I expected Paolini to add in at least a few new tidbits of information, but virtually the entire text was stuff that has already been covered. The Menoa Tree, the Rimgar, all the landmarks of Alagaesia are old hat that the main books have addressed in detail, and nothing much is explained about them. Plus, the Eragon "narration" is really annoying -- and Galby is basically reduced to little flaps...

Maces and Brisingr Arms and Armour and Swordsmanship

... and speed of the Elves, Riders and Shades, wouldn't you say? (Which would mean that Eragon wouldn't have had that Scar) Don't tell me that because it's a Fantasy World that's okay, Alagaesia still works with the laws of physics so therefore the Mail needs to be done right. It would also put an end to blades that can cut through armour. Another thing Mail isn't heavy it weighs around 25 pounds...

I hate the Saphira/Eragon Relationship

Her main goal is to keep Eragon safe, even stating herself that should Eragon be captured, she would go so far as to give herself up to Galbatorix, dooming Alagaesia, just to save Eragon. Aside from the immediate gag-response, I have some specific beefs with their "bond": 1. As a mother and her child? As any person who has raised a puppy or kitten ...

Feeding a Dragon

..., that's two deer everyday. Saph had better be a damn good hunter. Fortunately, cows are a lot fattier, so she'd only have to eat 60 lbs of beef. One good steer would last her a little over a week- still a lot of beef, though. I think that the ranchers would start getting annoyed. No wonder Galby killed off all the dragons- they were destroying his Alagaesia National Parks Service. ; )
