Afterpains

Hi! I'm 3 days post-partum, and wondering how long afterpains are supposed to last. They're about as bad as early labor! I've heard that they're generally worse with subsequent babies and with twins, and I don't remember anything like this from my first birth.

... to give birth. Everyone was baking hot except me - I was shivering. The good news was that, since stitches are painful & that, they were going to let me sup on Gas & Air again. Wheee! To be honest, the afterpains were bothering me more than the stitches (they'd given me a local, after all) but I'd have faked pain to get my hands on lovely, lovely G&A. Hell, I deserved it. That was when the fun ...

... it will be quite a bit more painful when they get me up and walking around when they take the catheter out later tonight. I don't know what a '3' feels like though...I have been having afterpains, which I expected--uterus clamping down and everything. Also she showed me how to do the uterine massage and told me to do it every hour...and the bed wheels hadn't been locked and when she bent over me ...
