I made a little green velvet pillow tonight. D and I relocated an old sewing machine and table from the basement to my room a few weeks ago after cleaning it up and testing various bits. We couldn't test the actual sewing functionality of it, though, as it was missing a bobbin case.

Ebay and a few weeks later, I set down with courage, the bobbin case and new bobbins, lining, stuffing, stretch velvet, and D's request to test out the new part soon so she could leave feedback.

I haven't made the best little green velvet pillow ever, but I have made a real, honest-to-goodness little green velvet pillow with no hand stitching whatsoever. And I am proud of myself, inordinately proud, for this is the first project EVER that I've completed with a sewing machine. It is the first project EVER in which I have started out by using a sewing machine and NOT given up within a half hour, parts of my fabric ruined, lots of my thread used up, all needles in the immediate vicinity broken, and the thrice-cursed machine cackling maniacally (so what if only I can hear it?). I mean, there's a reason I'm such a fast and accurate hand stitcher. Sewing machines hate me.

But maybe I'm getting on their good side once and for all.
