30 Kisses theme #3: Jolt! [Minor Intimacies]

Isshi sauntered into the store, back from his lunch break and crunching on a piece of mint candy. He sighed and ran a hand over his hair, grabbing chunks of it as he ran a current of heat through his fingers, drying off the water droplets that had gathered from the misting spring shower outside. He didn’t really like getting wet, but even he couldn’t argue that the barely-there mist was so fresh and cool and sweet. In another week the flowers would be in full bloom all over the city. He smiled softly and crunched away the last of his candy.

Haruki waved at him from the cash, diverting her attention from the phone call she was in but for a moment. He waved back and tugged the zipper on his jacket as he headed for the backroom. He heard some shuffling around as he cracked the door open and stepped in to find Akiya balanced on a stepladder, packing a few stray books into a box. He seemed to not have heard the door open, and Isshi used this to his advantage.

He crept up on the redhead, slung his arms around his waist and pulled himself up onto the step below where Akiya was standing, reaching up on tiptoe; he planted a kiss just behind Akiya’s ear. “I love you, baby,” he told him, smiling, before he jumped down and went off to hang up his jacket.

Akiya smirked to himself. Isshi had actually caught him off-guard and surprised him. The lingering scent of mint was the only clue he’d managed to do so.
